Transportation

By Air
SIAM has selected Uniglobe Wings Travel to assist attendees in making travel arrangements. To book your reservations through Uniglobe Wings Travel, contact Amy Hueber at +1-215-628-3322 or toll free (US and Canada) at 866-71-WINGS. Press two (2) when you hear the recording, and ask to be transferred to Amy. Be sure to mention you are attending the SIAM Conference on Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE18). Uniglobe Wings Travel will issue your ticket and mail it to you. Please be aware there is a fee for this service.

You also have the choice of using your own travel agent or an Internet service. There are many web sites available to allow you to search for and purchase airline tickets online. Expedia , Orbitz, and Travelocity are just a few.

Ground Transportation

Super Shuttle
Super Shuttle services the Philadelphia International Airport, and offers a 10% discount to SIAM attendees. Conference attendees can also review the Super Shuttle website prior to traveling to determine if Super Shuttle is being offered in their respective city when making local transportation arrangements.

Public Transportation from Airport
Taxis are available at the airport for transportation to the hotel. Please visit the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City website, and click on “Map & Directions” to find local directions. SIAM also suggests you contact the hotel directly for any information about sharing transportation. Additional ground transportation information is available on the Philadelphia International Airport website. 

By Train
Amtrak has a rail station in Philadelphia. To make train reservations through Amtrak, call (800) USA-RAIL, go to http://www.amtrak.com or contact Uniglobe Wings Travel. Taxis are available at the train station for transportation to the hotel.

Rental Cars
Many major car rental companies have offices inside the airport terminal. You can make your arrangements when you arrive at the airport or you can make them through Uniglobe Wings Travel or your own travel agent. Uniglobe Wings Travel can make your car rental reservations at the same time you make your flight reservations. See information above regarding how to reach Uniglobe Wings Travel.

Driving Directions
If renting a car, please obtain a map and directions from your rental car company. Another option is to visit Google Maps, or another similar web site. SIAM highly recommends you contact the hotel directly at +1-215-893-1600 or visit their web site for driving directions.

Your support in staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City helps keep the conference costs down, which directly affects your registration fees. SIAM guarantees the hotel that we will fill a certain number of “room nights” (rooms per night) during the conference.  SIAM incurs penalties if too many attendees opt to stay in other hotels in the area or neglect to indicate to the hotel that they are with the SIAM conference. At this time, conference costs do not include meeting room rental. If SIAM fails to fill the contracted room block, SIAM is charged the cost for the meeting rooms on a daily basis, along with a hefty penalty. Future registration fees could increase to cover these additional risks.

Reservations

SIAM is holding a block of rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City. These rooms are being held on a first-come, first-served basis at the following discounted rates. Please be aware the room block fills quickly, so we suggest you make your hotel and travel plans early.

The group rate is guaranteed until the cutoff date or until the room block is full. If rooms are available after the cutoff date, they will be offered at the best available rate.

Reservation Deadline –August 16, 2018 (or until the room block is filled)

Single/Double*            $189 per night plus 15.5% tax
Government Rate        $185 per night plus 15.5% tax 
Student rate                $144 per night plus 15.5% tax
Student ID must be presented upon check-in. SIAM is able to negotiate a limited number of special student rate rooms. Please book early as these rooms sell out quickly!

Room rates include complimentary Internet access.
All rooms based on availability.
All rates are subject to state and local occupancy taxes.
* Additional fees of $10.00 per person apply to triple and quad occupancy.

In the event that you find a lower room rate, please make the reservation at the lower rate and notify SIAM immediately ([email protected]). By doing this you will receive the lower rate and be counted towards the SIAM room block. However, please be aware by booking outside the SIAM room block at a lower rate, you may not receive the same benefits as rooms reserved in the SIAM room block (i.e complimentary Internet access).

Do not make your reservation online using the hotel’s general web site, as this will not allow you to obtain the SIAM group rate. Be sure to use the online reservation link above if making reservations online. Remember to get your confirmation number!

Reservations are not confirmed until acknowledged in writing by the hotel or verified by phone. Be sure to get a confirmation number from the hotel and be prepared to provide that number to the front desk clerk upon check-in at the hotel.

Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the by 6:00pm 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival date to avoid a cancellation fee. You can contact the hotel at 1-800-445-8667 (USA and Canada) or +1-215-893-1600. Remember to get a cancellation number!

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Deposit

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City requires a credit card to confirm and guarantee your reservation. The hotel will send out e-mail confirmations upon request.

Health Facilities

Hotel guests will have complimentary use of the fitness center and pool in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City.
